ABOUT THE SHOW

Middle school, ugh. It’s the worst. But Greg is determined not to be at the bottom of the popularity chart. He’ll leave that to his weird neighbour, Fregley. Or maybe Greg’s best friend, Rowley Jefferson. But it’s not going to be Greg…no way.

In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the Musical, Jeff Kinney’s popular character takes center stage as Greg’s cartoon diary becomes a hilarious and heartfelt musical. Will Greg’s plans to become popular lead him to sacrifice his one true friend? Can anyone avoid the dreaded Cheese Touch? Grab a hall pass and don’t be late for an adventure familiar to anyone who actually survived middle school.

"It's a buoyant and kind show... The script is funny, the pop-meets-Broadway songs are bouncy and clever."

- Star Tribune, Minneapolis

"Diary of a Wimpy Kid bounces onto the stage with confidence, energy and goodwill to spare... I don't think it's a stretch to say this show has charisma... It is a huge amount of fun."

DIARY OF A WIMPY KID is proudly presented

by THE SMITH & FREDRIKSEN FAMILIES!

The Smith and Frederiksen families have cherished StoryBook Theatre for over 40 years, beginning with seeing shows together at SBT’s original performance venue, Pumphouse Theatre. As their family grew, they attended Cookie Cabarets and became regular season subscribers. They have volunteered on SBT’s Board of Directors, and their teen has participated in theatre school and performed in SSIP2024's HEATHERS. For three generations, SBT has become more than just a place to enjoy extraordinary theatre—it has become their second home.

A spokesperson for the family shared: "SBT’s 48th Season theme, Season to Belong, strongly resonated with all of us as it truly reflects what SBT has meant to our family. Together, we decided to give back to this incredible organization, and sponsor DIARY OF A WIMPY KID. The show’s themes of navigating social challenges and finding a community to help one find one's place in the world echoed the positive impact SBT has had on our family."

Through their generous support, they hope to ensure that StoryBook Theatre remains a vibrant, inclusive space where others will also find connection, community, and a place to belong.

The Smith and Frederiksen families invite and encourage others to consider becoming a sponsor. In doing so, you can play a crucial role in ensuring StoryBook Theatre continues to be a welcoming home for all. Your support will make a lasting impact, not just on the arts, but also on the community, fostering connection and belonging for generations to come.
